Volvo V60 Plug-in Technology

Volvo Cars will be unveiling the V60 Plug-in Hybrid – a virtually production-ready car with carbon dioxide emissions below 50 g/km.The Plug-in Hybrid which will be launched on the market in 2012 is the result of close cooperation between Volvo Cars and Swedish energy supplier Vattenfall.In January 2007, Volvo Cars and Vattenfall launched an industrial partnership whose aim was to test and develop plug-in technology. This cross-border initiative resulted in the foundation of a jointly owned company – V2 Plug-in-Hybrid Vehicle Partnership.Development work has been jointly financed. Now the project is on the threshold of introducing the market’s first diesel plug-in hybrid. It’s an attractive car type that gives the user access to the very best properties of both an electric car and a diesel-powered vehicle: very low fuel consumption and CO2 levels, combined with long range and high performance.

When powered solely by electricity, the V60 Plug-in Hybrid has a range of up to 50 kilometres. The car’s total operating range is up to 1200 km. Carbon dioxide emissions will be an average of 49 grams per kilometre (EU Combined) and fuel consumption will be 1.9 litres per 100 km.The cost of the battery pack means the plug-in hybrid will be more expensive to buy than a Volvo V60 with a conventional combustion engine. On the other hand, fuel costs will be one-third compared with a conventional combustion engine. The cost of running on electricity in Sweden has been calculated at about 2.50 kronor per 10 km. The exact cost will vary from one market to another.The plug-in hybrid can be charged via a regular household electricity socket at home or when parked somewhere else. Charging time is about five hours if the car is recharged at home.

An electric motor is almost four times as efficient as a regular combustion engine. This means that an electrically powered car consumes less energy and thus produces lower emissions, even if it is powered by a blend of electricity sources that include fossil fuels.European electricity production has an emission ceiling. This means that even if all vehicles were to run on electricity, electricity production itself is not allowed to produce more carbon dioxide. This emission ceiling will be gradually lowered over a period of time.Electricity is an excellent source of energy. It does not risk running out, and it can be produced virtually without any CO2 emissions. For instance, Vattenfall is working towards halving the company’s emissions by 2030 and becoming climate-neutral by 2050.

Emissions from millions of exhaust tailpipes are transferred to a small number of production facilities which are easier to control and which will operate on the basis of the EU’s trade in emission rights, something that does not apply to the transport sector at present.Electric vehicles use relatively little electricity and the increase in consumption will be more than covered by ambitious expansion plans for renewable energy sources throughout Europe. A single wind-power station, for instance, produces sufficient renewable energy to power 3,000 electric cars. Vattenfall will offer buyers of the plug-in hybrid a contract including electricity from renewable sources.Electricity production is undergoing rapid expansion. Wind-power is being commercially introduced on a large scale and is continuing to expand, biofuels will replace fossil fuels on a broad front, wave-power is expected to enter commercial operation within ten years and new technology to clean CO2 emissions from coal-fired power stations is currently under development.At Volvo Cars, work progresses on the V60 Plug-in Hybrid in parallel with development of the Volvo C30 Electric which runs entirely on electricity.These two car types complement one another. With a plug-in hybrid the driver is entirely independent of recharging stations when driving long distances.

eCRP 1.4 Electric Race Bike

The eCRP 1.4 electric race bike revealed and an evolution of the company’s 2010 eCRP 1.2 and poised for entry in the all-electric TTXGP series.eCRP 1.4 electric race bike offers two motors pumping out a combined 70hp and 89 lb-ft of torque and making a lovely sound……

The eCRP 1.4 will be the strong point of the 2011 season for the Modena factory and it is to be made available to all teams, regardless of electric racing series.The new green-tech vehicle will have some improvements which will be revealed with a detailed technical sheet in early 2011.Meanwhile, regarding the latest news on the upcoming season, the championship TTXGP made some changes to the technical regulations for next season, namely the introduction of two classes the Open Formula GP and Formula 75.Specifically the Formula Open GP will be open to all electric vehicles with a maximum weight of 250kg, while in the case of Formula 75 (7.5 kWh), were placed significant limitations on the amount of energy that the vehicle can carry, this is going to affect in some way the engine power, once the length of the race has been established with the weight has been set at a maximum of 200kg.

The 2011 season of CRP Racing promises to both interesting and exciting. The competition of racing will be highlighted by the addition of new sponsors.After the great success of last season with the eCRP 1.2, CRP Racing’s Official Team will come back on track with eCRP 1.4. Rider Alessandro Brannetti will be returning to pilot the new motorcycle. Having won the European title at Brands Hatch and got the Vice World Champion title at Albacete, will allow the entire team to return with the aim of setting up a great show for the 2011 season.In addition CRP Racing is joining with new partners in the photovoltaic industry. The eCRP will be used to highlight the possibility of both zero emissions at the exhaust as well as a zero emissions source for power.

BMW Adding ICE In Megacity EV

BMW may include an option of a small internal-combustion engine that would act as a range extender for its all-electric Megacity and provides tonic for your range anxiety.BMW is taking a page out of the Chevy Volt’s playbook by placing a small ICE in its EV that doubles the range of the vehicle from 50 to 100 miles……

BMW Financial Officer Frederick Eichiner told on german website Focus.de that the BMW Vehicle Mega City will receive an optional range extender that can be ordered with the electric vehicle. The range extender refers to a small internal combustion engine which can charge the battery while driving.Mega City Vehicle has been previously associated with pure electric mobility.Range Extender is a small internal combustion engine with generator power for the electric drive of the car delivers.BMW will offer its electric car planned for 2013 a so-called range extender. BMW’s chief financial officer Frederick Eichiner announced in the Straubinger Tagblatt on.

The customer will can order a range extender which is a small engine that charges the battery.At last summer during a workshop BMW facility near Munich, the carbon chassis offers at the front enough room for a small internal combustion engine.he customer could therefore have a choice whether to have additional trunk space or the small internal combustion engine. Furthermore, customer can decide how low CO2 emissions compare against larger space inside the vehicle.

With the use of a range extender, the driving range of the vehicle could increase dramatically. Megacity Vehicle uses a lithium-ion battery with 35 kWh of capacity which delivers around 100 miles of driving range before recharging. The range extender will add at least 50% more driving range turning the Megacity into a more functional vehicle, one that can be used extensively outside the city limits as well.In two weeks BMW is expected to reveal more information about the Megacity Vehicle including the official name.A concept version of the Megacity will debut later this fall at Frankfurt Motor Show.

Range Extender brings a technical development to the construction of electric cars which takes more and more are for BMW.GM’s Chevrolet Volt to be related to the model of the first car with range extender on the market, the cars in Germany are offered as Ampera. Audi wants to test the technology in a large-scale test and Daimler researching it. BMW announced on request, the range extender should not be fitted as standard, but sold as an option.

Hero Honda Splendor and Passion to come with Hero sticker

Hero Honda is the world largest bike manufactures in the world. The hero Honda Company went separate a few weeks back. The Honda was a Japanese company and the Hero was an Indian company. Hero Honda was a joint venture of the both companies. The Munjals’s operated Hero group had brought 26 per cent stake of its Honda Company which is a Japan based company. Now the company has decided to remove the Honda name form the brand name of Hero Honda which was once launching the bikes that were rocking the Indian market. The name Honda will be replaced from the name such as Hero Honda Splendor and the Hero Honda Passion, Hero Honda Glamour and the Hero Honda Hunk. But on the another side the Hero Honda CD Deluxe and the Hero Honda CBZ Extreme are under the consideration process.

The Hero group is going to re brand its bikes name from the month of April 2011. The new branded bikes will be available from the month of June this year. Firstly the name of the splendor and the passion will be re-changed with the Hero tag. The company has decided to re brand all the bikes and is slowly considering the different bikes that were under the Hero Honda tag.

The high end bike model by the Hero Honda company in the present date is the Hero Honda Karizma. This is very well renowned bike in the Indian market. The CD Deluxe is the base model of the Hero Honda company. It is also expected that the Hero Company is going to release new naming for their popular bikes. It will be a totally different idea and it will take some time. The Hero Company has already planned and this will be executed very soon in the coming time.

Hero Honda is the no.1 bike selling company in the Indian market. All the models of the company have made a huge hit in the market. The bike has received good responses from the Indian customers. The Hero Honda company has been selling 4.6 million motorcycles per year. The Hero Honda company is expecting to sell 5 million bikes in this financial year. According to the final agreement between Hero and the Honda Company, the Hero companies going to use the Honda’s technology till the year of 2014. After 2014, the Hero bike will enable the bike with its own technology in India.

Innovative Delphi sound generators to help warn pedestrians of oncoming hybrid and electric cars.

The new invention by the Delphi Automotive is that it has come up with two new vehicle sound generators which are capable of warning pedestrian of approaching hybrid and electric cars. These cars will be affixed by sound generators that can be of great help to the manufacturers of cars across the world. The generators are not only environment friendly but are light weight, compact and inexpensive. It also have some distinctive features that the single-box solutions are lead-free, waterproof and temperature resistant.

Delphi

General Director, Electronic Controls product business unit at Delphi, Beth Schwarting stated that in future, hybrid and electric cars warning sounds will be needed in North America and Europe. He also reveled that Delphi has come up with environment friendly generators whose are called sounders these make the people aware of the approaching hybrid and electric cars which never makes sounds without the sound generator.

Wanna known more about these electronic sounder system, the two sounders, the first one is almost three times lighter than the conventional multi-box system. It uses near about 90 percent less power, therefore it makes it more environment friendly. The packaging would be simpler by the size and weight of the new sounders, however the it helps in reducing design, test and manufacturing cost.

Delphi has even developed a great sounder which uses a cone speaker, these are use in the application required for high quality sound. The magnet based system is almost 66 percent lighter than the conventional speaker system. Both of these systems are capable enough to successfully incorporate a 32 bit microprocessor with long time memory, which would be the link to the car's audio class-D amplifier.
