LG GW 990 Smartphone launched in India

LG officially launched its big sized smartphone, the LG GW990 today. This latest smartphone offered by them is powered by Intel's Moorestown platform and it runs on Intel's Moblin 2.1 flavor of Linux. It clearly tells us that the Intel and LG have wored in collaboration for making this device. The good news is that it is ready and the company plans to sell it off in second half of 2010.



As far as Intel Moorestown platform is concerned, we may tell you that it was developed specifically for mobile internet devices (MIDs) and smartphones. It is a system on a chip (SOC) with a 45nm Intel Atom processor. It's, however, unclear what the clockspeed of the GW990's Atom processor is as of now.

LG GW 990 has a broad 4.8" touchscreen display with 1024 x 480 pixel screen resolution. This is amazing as no other smartphone has as of now offered such huge resolution.

It is claimed by its manufacturer LG, that GW990 was made in such a way so as to support HSPA(INFO) networks and even in future it will support for Long Term Evolution (LTE) networks.

In the USA, AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon Wireless have announced intentions to launch LTE networks in coming future.
