Bajaj to relaunch Boxer in April

Bajaj Auto, one of the major two wheeler manufacturers in India has announced the relaunch of Bajaj Boxer in India. The glad news was announced by Mr. S. Sridhar, Chief Executive (two-wheeler) Bajaj Auto in an interview given to the Financial Chronicle. It is clear that this step is taken keeping in mind the fact that there is going to be a boom in the commuter bike segment with the continuing hike in the fuel prices. Bajaj Boxer had become famous for its excellent fuel management and lower maintenance cost in the first launch. The production of this 100 cc commuter bike was discontinued by Bajaj in 2007. The launch will most probably in the month of April.

Bajaj Boxer

As the news spreading about the new engine is still vague, most of the rumors are about a 125 cc engine. But in an Interview given to the NDTV profit channel Mr. Rajiv Bajaj, MD of Bajaj Auto has mentioned the launch of a mighty 150 cc Boxer with a for speed gear box. The new bike is coming as an entry level bike in the market and also to compete with the best seller in the commuter bike segment, Hero Honda splendor. With their super success Bajaj pulsar ruling over the sports bike segment, all Bajaj wants now is to have a strong hand in commuter bike segment. So it seems the Hero Honda break up is a related reason for the re entry of Bajaj Boxer. Though had with drawn boxer from Indian market, it still exports a boxer variant to china and South Africa.

Bajaj Boxer

There are some changes in the design of body although its not much different from the old model in total effect. The design is circular with a triangular tail lamp and circular headlight. The Fuel tank has a capacity of twelve liters and it has a high mounted design. The design of the seat it some what different and it is longer in the new bike. Boxer also has features like leg guard and sari guard. It will be built with enough strength to carry loads. The old Bajaj Boxer had a 116 cc engine with a maximum power of 7.7 Hp at 7,000 rpm. Let us hope that the new Boxer will have a higher performance. The price of the new boxer will be around 40,000 rupees which is less than Hero Honda splendor. Since the price is lower than the other bikes in the segment, it may lack features like self start disc brakes, alloy wheel etc. But one thing guaranteed and most important is the unmatched fuel efficiency that Bajaj Boxer offers.

Bajaj announced to launch 150cc Boxer and Upgrade Bajaj Discover

As the two wheeler industry is about to witness a boom in the sales of commuter bikes, Bajaj is about to launch a 150 cc Bajaj Boxer and a new Bajaj discover. In an interview given to the NDTV profit channel, Mr. Rajiv Bajaj, managing director of Bajaj Auto has given some hints about their new launches to the two wheeler market. The rumors about the relaunch of Bajaj Boxer have been in the air for a while now. The old Bajaj Boxer had a very fuel effective 100 cc engine, a very relevant fact as the hike in fuel price is making living difficult. Bajaj had ceased the production of the popular 100 cc Boxer in 2004. So when the relaunch was announced, the expectations were about a 100cc engine or a more powerful 125 cc Bajaj Boxer.

Bajaj Discover
But it turns out that the new boxer is going to have a 150 cc engine, quoting Mr. Rajiv Bajaj. Although it sounds unbelievable, the sources of information are reliable. The plan of the company is to launch Bajaj Boxer as a utility brand to India in an affordable price and win the upcoming competition in the commuter bike segment. As the word utility brand means in the industry, the new bike has the 150 cc engine equipped to perform like a work horse in cases of heavy load and rise up to the expectation of the user. Although there are some other bikes like Hero Honda CD Dawn and TVS Max 4R with 100 cc engine in the utility brand, they have not achieved success yet. It seems Bajaj is to take over the scene now. The price of the new bike is expected to be around 40,000 in Indian market.

Bajaj Boxer

The Bajaj has its market leader in the sports bike segment, the mighty Bajaj Pulsar with about 50 percent market share. Naturally Bajaj also wants to have a strong hand in the commuter bike segment too. The coming new Bajaj Discover is specially designed for giving a tough fight to Hero Honda Splendor, The best selling commuter bike in India. In another interview with money control.com, Mr.Rajiv Bajaj stated that Bajaj Pulsar and Bajaj Discover together constitute around 70% of the total sales. It is actually up to 85% in the Indian market. The two existing Discovers with 100cc and 150 cc engines were a huge success in India for the past 10 years. So the manufacturers expect better for the new discover. The company is expecting a sale of 350,000 units by the end of April with the launch of the new bikes. The changes and special features in the bikes still remain unrevealed.

Bajaj to remove it's ages old brand name

For almost 70 years of service, Bajaj has been known for being one of the best motorcycle manufacturers in India. Bajaj is considered as one of the company that named itself in accordance to the owners’ last name or family name. However after all years of experience the word Bajaj will soon be removed in all their product, service and showroom.

Bajaj Pulsar
Just like for example the two famous and popular motorcycles that they manufacture which are the Bajaj Pulsar and Bajaj Discover. Both of the said motorcycle will now be known as Pulsar and Discover. The change is being approved by Rajiv Bajaj which is the eldest son of the chairman of the company, Rahul Bajaj. This is actually not new with growing businesses or company. There are a lot of company that changes their name because there's no need for their name to be added on their product since people already know about them and the product that they are producing like Hindustan Unilever, ITC and Procter & Gamble.

Bajaj Pulsar
After the study and analysis of the company, they are starting to remove the name Bajaj in their product and business cycle. And they are confident that even without the name Bajaj, it will not decrease the sales that they have and in fact the company forecast to increase their sales in future.

Well, it is not all about that name, it is all about the product of the business that will make it popular. Bajaj already proved to their customer that they can provide a high quality product. The name of a certain company is important because it will keep the distinction between the best and not. As time goes by, if the consumer already comfortable of using the certain product for long period of time, so there is no need for them to go to other company and will stay to the same company or manufacturer no matter what will happen with the name of the company as long as they will keep the same quality that they are giving before. We really can’t stop changes, and what we can do is to learn how to adapt the changes. Bajaj is one of the companies that has plan for a better future of their organization, they are trying to make some changes of name because they believe that even without the name Bajaj, the quality remains.

Now Bajaj Discover may named Hamara Discover

Bajaj is the brand name who gives the India a unique identification in the international automobile industry. The brand that gave India the slogan 'Hamara Bajaj’ is also the Bajaj. The brand that has always given the feeling of being own, loyal, local yet better than international is “Hamara Bajaj”. Now Bajaj is going to drop their family name. Removing the brand name is not an unusual event in Europe and other foreign countries but will certainly in India is the first in automobile industry.

Bajaj Discover
Bajaj is the 2nd largest top bike manufacturing company in India. With a market cap of Rs. 37,800 crore the Bajaj is undergoing the most radical change after four years from the three ways splitting of the company. The leader of this mega transition is non other than the Bajaj Auto Managing Director Rajiv Bajaj. After just 3 months from now Hamara Bajaj could be Hamara discover. There are three version of Bajaj Discover and the entire version are successful to make enough market in the Indian automobile industry especially among the young generation. In a recent interview managing director of Bajaj, Mr. Rajiv Bajaj stated his interest in removing the Bajaj brand name from its product and its place, establish the discover and pulsar as the separate brand in its own light. According to him they also started the process of removing the brand name as we can see in the pulsar that Bajaj is used only in the engine chassis. If it is true then Indian automobile industry will see a new mega change in its history. The change might be done for Bajaj Pulsar as well.

Bajaj Discover
It could not be forecasted that, will this change good for market and Bajaj or not. But according to the Bajaj himself, he doesn’t like this name (Bajaj) any more. Now all the Bajaj Discover version are launched under HAMARA Bajaj brand and not the Bajaj. The plan of Mr. Bajaj is to drop the name ‘Bajaj’ completely one day, and this change is seen the first step of that dream of Bajaj. As the Rajiv Bajaj (M.D. Bajaj) this change creates a perception that there is something new in the product.

This is the rebranding process of Bajaj. This is the new trend in Indian automobile industry, and it is suppose that after the Bajaj, other brand may get involve in this process how ever it is depend on the success rate of Bajaj’s rebranding process. Hope that the new trend in this industry will be successful.
