Yamaha Motor brings "Yamaha Safe Riding Science" in New Delhi

Riding on the success of the Yamaha Safe Riding Science (YSRS) training events in Chennai, Pune and Bangalore this year, India Yamaha Motor conducted YSRS event in New Delhi to impart safety riding techniques among youth and help contribute to an accident-free traffic environment. Attended by 100 students of Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology (NSIT), Dwarka, New Delhi, the day long program was divided into 2 sessions, 1st was a classroom session or theoretical session and 2nd was practical session wherein 3 practical skills were taught which are slow balancing, slalom and breaking.

The initiative is focused especially on inculcating safe riding habits and aims to contribute to raising traffic safety awareness among local communities and not only among Yamaha customers. The initiative has been developed by the company in accordance with its basic philosophy of "Safety riding being achieved by intelligent activity, not by the operation or movement". Intelligent activity, in turn, is achieved by imbibing and following traffic safety awareness and values into riding.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Yutaka Terada, Director – Sales and Marketing said, "YSRS initiative was started by Yamaha in order to educate youth about dangers of riding in the increasing traffic condition and promote safe riding in the country. By becoming familiar with the safe and correct riding methods, riders not only avoid accidents and injuries, but also enjoy more when riding their motorcycles. We have received overwhelming response for YSRS program and youth in various cities have learnt the techniques of safe riding while undergoing a positive attitudinal change towards safer riding practices.”

Through this initiative, the company is all set to take the idea of safe riding to colleges across the country. It has also prepared a short film of 20 minutes duration, in which it has scientifically analyzed impact force, inertia force and frictional force from a road traffic viewpoint.

Yamaha launched Yamaha Safe Riding Science (YSRS) initiative in India in 2008, and has successfully introduced it to the youth of Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Pune, Nagpur and Goa, till now. Overwhelmed by the public response everywhere, Yamaha is back in Delhi with another round of this event, and hopes that it will go a long way in inculcating safe riding habits among everyone who have a passion for biking.

BMW to launch new bike soon in India

After the huge success of luxury car in the Indian auto market , BMW is going to foray into Indian motorcycle market with the launches new bikes in the country. BMW group firm which sees a huge potential in India, BMW Motorrad. German based auto company is going to launch new bike soon in India. Andreas Schaff, President, BMW India, said, “Motarrads, our motorcycle company, is a core BMW group firm which sees a huge potential in India. We are very keen to enter India and an announcement will be made soon. We are studying the market right now.” BMW Motorrad is producing between 400cc to 1200cc motorcycles that it will bring its 1200cc bike in the Indian auto market.

Maruti Suzuki unveils SX4 Hybrid and Eeco Charge Electric concepts for demonstration

India's car market leader Maruti Suzuki today handed over first lot of Two Maruti Suzuki SX4 Hybrid cars and One 'Eeco Charge' to Mr Arvinder Singh Lovely, Hon'ble Minister of Transport for NCT Delhi. The vehicles intended for use at the forthcoming Commonwealth Games, were handed over by Mr. Shinzo Nakanishi, Managing Director and CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, in the city. Maruti Suzuki has made ready a lot of 14 future technology vehicles for the use at Commonwealth Games. These include 10 Maruti Suzuki SX4 Hybrid Cars and 4 Maruti Suzuki 'Eeco Charge' vehicles. The balance vehicles will be handed over to the Commonwealth Games Organising Committee for use by the Officials during the Commonwealth Games. On the occasion Mr. Shinzo Nakanishi said, "I am happy that engineers at Maruti Suzuki have developed these future technology vehicles. This project has helped our engineers to increase their knowledge and enhance their R and D capability. We are grateful to the Government for their leadership to promote green technology in automobiles. Maruti Suzuki is happy to be associated with the Commonwealth Games national initiative, through these vehicles."



Maruti Suzuki has developed the SX4 Hybrid vehicles and 'Eeco Charge' concept vehicles as a part of the demonstration fleet. The demonstration of the fleet of SX4 Hybrids and 'Eeco Charge' vehicles at the Commonwealth Games 2010, is in line with the ambitious NHPP and MNRE program outline. SX4 Hybrid and 'Eeco Charge' concept development has been taken up by Maruti Suzuki as a part of the Government initiated and SIAM coordinated NHPP and MNRE National Hybrid Propulsion Program (NHPP) and the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy Sources (MNRE)'s High Energy Density Battery Development Program.

The development of Hybrid and Electric vehicles is one of the exciting initiatives undertaken by Maruti Suzuki to enhance its R and D capabilities and gear itself for greener technologies. Through this exercise Maruti Suzuki is keen to expand its learning's on green technologies that put minimal stress on non-renewable energy. A team of 25 Maruti Suzuki engineers worked on this project with global hybrid technology and component suppliers. These future technology vehicles by Maruti Suzuki demonstrate how eco-friendliness and personal mobility can be packaged together as an exciting product. These concepts have been developed by a team of Maruti Suzuki engineers and were showcased at Delhi Auto Expo 2010. Maruti SX4 Hybrid is a Full Parallel Hybrid with Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) on a sedan platform. SX4 Hybrid presents a case of evolution of transportation system with elements of flexibility, style and eco-friendliness. SX4 Hybrid offers mobility solution in an eco-friendly yet stylish manner.




The hybrid system used in the SX4 Hybrid features an electric motor and twin clutch arrangement with advance Lithium-ion battery technology. This concept combines a 1.2 litre K-series petrol engine and a 50 kW electric motor along with 5-speed Automated Manual Transmission. Together, these provide high fuel economy with lower emissions. The SX4 Hybrid is also capable of running solely on its electric motor, offering a further boost to fuel efficiency and zero emission modes in city driving. The SX4 hybrid offers 25 per cent more fuel efficiency compared to conventional gasoline vehicle.

'Maruti Eeco Charge' is a zero-emission, pure electric vehicle developed on a MPV platform. It is powered by a 50kW motor and a 24kWh Lithium-ion battery. On full charge it promises a driving range of around 100km and attains top speed of 100 km per hour. The 'Eeco Charge' also has the 'Sport Mode' for acceleration enthusiast. The battery for 'Eeco Charge' has been packaged under floor for better drivability and retaining ample boot space. The real time display of State of Charge and 'Distance to Empty' addresses user's anxiety. The 'Eeco Charge' can be charged using household power source.

Hero Honda Motor Ltd, the country's major two-wheeler market leader, has launched an improved version of its biggest selling bike, Hero Honda Splendor on 27th September 2010. The new version called “Hero Honda Splendor Pro” which is equipped with advanced components to make it more efficient and extreme performing bike. The new bike, Splendor Pro, has features like a power start and a new generation technology machine. Piaggio plan to set up new plants in Indian and Vietnam

Piaggio, one of the largest three-wheeler market leader, is planning to come back with bang of new two-wheelers in the Indian auto market. The company is all set to set up new plants in India and Vietnam market. As per to source Italy based Piaggio which is manufacturing three wheeler and two wheeler and selling whole world including Asia now to set more new plant in India and Vietnam. The company is already selling three wheelers in India now is going to re-launch its popular scooter Vespa with 125cc engine. For it the company has started production.



The Piaggio Vespa 125 will be launched by the year of 2012. Piaggio is constructing new manufacturing plant in India to produce Scooters and motorcycles. In European market, the group will strengthen its leadership in boost motorcycle and scooters market shares for the Aprilia and Moto Guzzi brands. Hyundai Motor India Ltd. (HMIL), the second largest car manufacturer and the largest passenger car exporter, and Vijaya Bank, a premier public sector bank, today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed to mutually benefit both companies by better serving their customers. The MoU was signed by Mr. Arvind Saxena, Director, Marketing and Sales, HMIL and Sri K. Jayakar Shetty, General Manager, Vijaya Bank on behalf of their respective organisations. Sri Albert Tauro, Chairman and MD, Vijaya Bank and Smt. Shubhalakshmi Panse, Executive Director, Vijaya Bank were also present at the MoU signing ceremony.

HMIL currently has a 296 strong dealer network and 592 strong service points across India, which will see further expansion by end of 2010.

Mahindra Diablo 300 to launch soon in India

Mahindra 2wheeler, the newly entrant two-wheeler market leader in the Indian auto market, is planning to launch its new motorcycle soon in India. New Ford Endeavour 4x2 AT launched

Ford India has recently unveiled the Ford Endeavour 3.0-litre 4x2 Automatic (AT) - the newest addition to its Endeavour premium Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) range. Its raining Android phones these days. Motorola after launching the Droid 2 has come up with another smartphone. But this time around, Motorola has an Android smartphone lined up for the rugged category and the makers of the original Droid are calling it Motorola Defy.

Volkswagen introduces the 1.6 l Polo at Rs 6.16 lakhs

After the successful debut of the 1.2 l Volkswagen Polo in India earlier this year, Volkswagen, Europe’s largest car manufacturer today introduces its powerful 1.6 l Polo variant into the market. This hot hatchback will be available to customers in the highline petrol variant at Rs. 6.16 lakhs, ex showroom New Delhi. Commenting on this new variant, Mr. Neeraj Garg, Member of Board and Director Volkswagen Passenger Cars, Volkswagen Group Sales India Pvt. New Hyundai i10 to be introduced on this festival season

World's auto major, Hyundai Motor is going to launch an upgraded version of its most selling car Hyundai i10 soon in the Indian auto market. The new version will be an face-lifted variant in the auto market. As per some news sources, the new face-lifted version will be launched on this festival season in India. The new version of Hyundai i10 will incorporate some trendy and modern features like fuel-saving start-stop feature. Hyundai stated that the ISG system should cut the fuel consumption and emissions by up to 15 percent in typical city driving conditions, with heavy traffic and continuous stop-start motoring,.

Nokia, India will launch its high-end smartphone Nokia N8 in mid of September, 2010 along with mid-range QWERTY phone from Nokia, the Nokia C3. For the other C series mobile handset from Nokia, the Nokia C6, people will have to wait till October, 2010.

Maruti Suzuki to establish new plant at Manesar

India's leading car maker Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) today held its 29th Annual General Meeting here today. At the meeting Mr. O Suzuki, Chairman and CEO, Suzuki Motor Corporation, Japan, (majority stakeholder in MSIL), made wide ranging announcements.The plans for the fourth plant of the company are at very initial stage as of now and the company is working on a project survey report regarding this plant. Currently, the total annual manufacturing capacity of the company is about 10 lakh units in India that will be increased to 12.5 lakh units as soon as its third plant goes operational. Going on the same line, the fourth plant will add another 2.5 lakh units in the company's annual production capacity and will take it to 15 lakh units.

The establishment of these new plants will not only help the company in regaining the crucial market share of more than 50 percent in its domestic market but also bring down the mounting waiting periods of some of its popular cars. At present, the delivery period for some of its popular cars like Maruti Swift Dzire has reached up to 3 to 4 months due to massive supply constraints. According to a statement given by company's chairman R.C. Bhargav, the second plant of the company at Manesar is expected to be operational in 2011 and thus the company will obviously look for the third plant. Maruti Suzuki has also launched three new re-freshed versions including Maruti Alto K10, Maruti A-Star AT and Maruti Ritz Genus. On the other hand, The company is also planning to launch one other cheapest car, Maruti Cervo soon in India.

The new Mahindra Cevalo is powered by 125cc, SOHC, 4 valve, air cooled, fuel injected engine that producing top power of 9BHP. It will be available in both Kick and Self start option. The 5 speed transmission system has been provided in this new bike. It is expected to be delivered an good millage of around 50kmpl in Indian streets. The front view of Mahindra Cevalo looks link same as Bajaj Discover 135 which is fitted with a big fuel tank with short cover and advanced indicator.

The new bike will also be equipped with alloy wheels in black shades. The company has not yet announced the price tag of this new bike in the Indian auto market. But, it is speculated that the new Mahindra Cevalo is believed to be available with affordable price range of Rs 50,000 (ex-showroom-Delhi). The new Bike will compete with Hero Honda Splendor, Bajaj Discover, TVS Flame, Honda Twister and Bajaj Pulsar. Mahindra two-wheeler is presently selling its four new scooters - Mahindra Duro, Mahindra Kine, Mahindra Rodeo, Mahindra SYM Flyte in the Indian auto market. Between these models, Mahindra Duro and Rodeo are getting overwhelming attention from the Indian market.
