Olive Lumen: Dual SIM Ultra Long Battery Multimedia Phone at Rs 2,499

After the Triple SIM release of Olive Mobiles, it has reverted to its Dual SIM phones. Olive`s latest release is Lumen and is sure to attract budget conscious people. The phone bears an affordable price tag of Rs 2,499. Lumen comes with the basic multimedia requirements like Audio/video player, FM Radio with recording and has MMS enabled in it. And yes, on purchase of Lumen, you will get 2 GB T-flash card for free.

Olive-Lumen

Lumen is basically a bar form factored mobile phone which provides it a simple look. There is nothing much to boast about its camera. Mentioning about its camera is just a formality. Thankfully, it offers Bluetooth and GPRS services. I would give credit to the phone`s battery backup as it is slightly more than similar range handsets. It can provide a talk-time up to 7 hours when fully charged.

Olive Lumen Specifications

  • Dual SIM (GSM + GSM)
  • 1.8-inch TFT Display
  • Dimension: 108.2 x 45.6 x 12 mm
  • Expandable Memory up to 4 GB
  • 1000 mAh battery

My Verdict

Olive Lumen is one such phone where you do not have think much before buying. It is a phone with basic requirements and there is nothing to boast about any of its features. However, its price tag of Rs 2,499 lures me. What about you?

Apple iPhone OS 4.0 Event Keynote; Now Online

Catching an Apple event at live-blogs sure is fun but never compares to the live video experience. On that note; the event keynote for iPhone OS 4.0 is now online at the Apple website.

The event had it's focus on the preview of the iPhone OS 4.0 which brings tons of new features for the users. Multitasking was the show-stopper; providing for a way to the user to be able to do more at once by being able to switch through active apps on the dock.

The actual disappointment was the lack of support for multitasking in iPhone 3G and iPod Touch 2G and what was even more shocking; no iPhone OS 4.0 availability for iPhone EDGE and iPod Touch 1G.

Apple plans to Launch a Mini-iPad in 2011?

Digitimes Research senior analyst Mingchi Kuo has discloed that the Apple folks are planning to build a mini version of iPad that would have a smaller screen size falling in anywhere between 5 to 7 inch. The analyst got this information thanks to an interesting conversation with the component providers.

The smaller version of iPad is expected to hit the market in Q1 of 2011 with price tag expected to be less than $400. Main audience of this device will be the folks who tend to use be more into reading activities rather than writing. This news is yet to get the official status, so you can pretty safely regard it as a rumor. However the question that arises here is do we really need a smaller iPad?

Follow the iPhone OS 4.0 Event Live Online

The iPhone OS 4.0 Event kicks off in about 20 minutes at Apple's headquarters at Infinite Loop, Cupertino. Like always; Apple's no-live-video-stream policy will be keeping most of the world from watching the event but that doesn't mean you won't be able to follow it.

Like always; popular blogs like TechCrunch, Gizmodo, Macword, Gdgt and Engadget will be there and covering the event in real-time.

Much of the talk on the iPhone OS 4.0 event will be about Multitasking, which we hope should make it's way to the iPhone platform in the to-be-announced-update. Apart from that, we suspect that Apple would be spilling the details over it's iAd Ad Platform.

Google Buzz Gets Integrated into Gmail for Mobile

Google has rolled out a new version of Gmail for Mobile for the iPhone and Android platform. With this update, Google Buzz becomes integrated right into your email app.

The feature set is similar to the one that is available for desktop users - liking the buzz, commenting on it, viewing images and so on. On top of that you don't need to do anything to get this app except visiting Gmail from your iPhone, iPod Touch or Android phone.

If you have used Buzz on the desktop version of Gmail, then you will have no problems in using the integrated Buzz. What this update does is that it eliminates need for you to go to the Google Buzz web app or even use a dedicated Google Buzz app for that matter. This integration will help Google as well(hopefully) as it will help them increase its adoption and usage rate.

New iPhone To Feature Multitasking and Ad-Supported App

According to sources, Apple, the company behind the intelligent devices such as the iPhone and iPad, is planning to bring in a brand new version of iPhone software. Apple also plans to bring in the support for multitasking and advertising, which may add the competition for Google powered smartphones. Apple is planning to hold a conference today in order to unveil the features and a sneak peek on the latest iPhone operating system.

iPhone has been in the market for years now. Since the launch, customers and developers have forwarded complaints and reservations of the inability to run more than one third-party program at the same time. Apple seems to have resolved the issue as it brings in the new edition.

Meanwhile, the ad issue was also resolved when back in January the company acquired the mobile ad network Quattro Wireless. Apple was surely late on this but followed its rival Google as it acquired AdMob Inc.

Apart from the App store which was the only way for developers to earn some revenue, the company brings in a new feature for the developers to grab some more from the mobile ads.

Update to the operating system is not something new from Apple, as the OS registers regular updates. With over 10,000 developers who receive the 70 percent revenue share from apps sold, developers are looking forward to the ad platform. This feature would also attract more developers which would be an easy way of money for iPhone and iPad app development.
